I really like the body shape. Is this your own design?
Is the shape of the bridge only a design element, or did any "acoustic" thinking guide the design?

Nice looking guitar for a number 4 .... well done. My fourth wasnt quite so adventurous in appoinments, but thats not what counts anyway !!!! Cherry and sitka make a nice light guitar, bet it sounds pretty sweet.

Something to watch out for on your next one .... wipe the sides and back around the binding with thinner or naptha, in order to make sure the glue residue is all gone .. or you get the little light spots. they will show up easily that way. I too had some in earlier days where they would show up on the first coat of finish, and require more sanding (I always hated that ...)

Tony: That's a great tip with the thinner for the glue. I'll be using that for sure. Thanks.

Christian: The body shape is based on a Gibson L-00. I like it because the waists are nice and gradual and pretty easy to bend. With the bridge I was trying to echo the shape of the headstock. From a sound point of view, it seems to work. I've made a couple guitars including this cherry one that sound pretty good to me.

Edward: Where abouts in Ontario are you? I live just outside of London Ontario.

Neil, that's one awesome guitar. I love the bridge shape - very unusual and animated. It works well with the movement of the bearclaw. Bravo!!

Neil, I am up in Collingwood, ever come skiing at Blue? I was actually in London a couple weeks ago.

I'd like to try Cherry, that's real nice.
Have you tested any stains on Cherry? Does it take a dark stain without blotching?
How does it sound, is it similar to Mahogany?
Nice guitar.

I haven't tried any stains on the cherry.

I don't know if I am qualified to give an opinion on cherry compared to mahogany, but I can say that this guitar is bright with a "clean" sort of sound. Leaning more towards the mids and highs than to the lows. Closer to what I would suspect one would get from maple.

Edward: I don't ski but do get up Collingwood way sometimes hiking the Bruce trail. I used to live in Barrie.
